If I Lived in a Snow Globe… | Winter Bulletin Board Idea

Writing Winter Bulletin Board Idea

How cute is this snow globe bulletin board from Kindergarten teacher, Deanna Jump?! Not only will it provide your classroom with festive seasonal decor, the design also offers fabulous writing and crafting exercises for your kiddos! {…Plus, your students do all the decorating!}

If I Lived in a Snow Globe…

Start by inviting your students to finish the writing prompt, “If I Lived in a Snow Globe…”, crafting fun stories of the things they would do, see, hear, etc. Next, have them select their favorite “scene”, providing students with light blue construction paper circles and inviting them illustrate it. Be sure to have them use lots of white craft paint and iridescent or silver glitter to create the snowy environment!! Create “bases” for the snow globes from black construction paper and have your kiddos write a short sentence describing the scene captured in their snow globe.

Snow Globe Bulletin Board Idea

  • Background: Sky blue bulletin board paper.
  • Title: “If I Lived in a Snow Globe…”
  • Border: Winter themed trimmer.
  • Decoration: Use your kiddos’ writing prompts/crafts! If you have room, consider creating a giant snow globe with light blue and black bulletin board paper, drawing your own scene in the globe!

      Hi Rita,

So glad you liked the feature! We’re always looking for multi-purpose designs since classroom wall space is usually scarce real estate :) Hope your students have fun with the project!

Love your idea. You might want to read aloud the Snow Globe Family by Jane O’Connor to your class. I stumbled upon your site by looking for snow globe activities to do with this book.

Great suggestion! We love being able to pair bulletin boards/activities with literature :) Have fun – snow globes make a fabulous winter theme!

I’m so very sorry for the delayed response! I was on vacation and effectively cut off from all technology and the outside world :)

Thanks for the information and the link. It’s always super helpful to have everything in one place and we just LOVE Deanna Jump’s products!! She is so creative ~ it makes ME want to be in kindergarten again!

    Have a great day,
    Kayla

I also used this idea…to make it more authentic my first graders wrote their stories…drew their pictures and then I cut page protectors the same size as their drawing.  I put fake snow and glitter in the middle and used double stick tape to put the clear plastic over the top.  They could really “shake up” their snow globes when finished.

LOVE that suggestion, Donna! I bet your kiddos had a blast! :)

A less expensive alternative might be to use clear cellophane or plastic wrap. This would also give a more authentic look, even if you choose not to use the fake snow or loose glitter. Super cute idea!
