Teamwork is an important part of any successful learning environment. In honor of the summer Olympic games, Valerie Young over at All Students Can Shine created this adorable Olympic-themed craftivity and bulletin board to use as a back-to-school activity. Not only does she use teamwork exercises to inspire classroom bonding, Valerie has observed that centers and group activities run much more smoothly through the year if she can teach her students the importance of working together early on.
Olympian TEAMwork Exercise
How cute are the Olympian crafts?! The great news is Valerie actually sells the craft templates on her Teacher’s Notebook and Teachers Pay Teachers sites! While you can certainly attempt to create your own, if you love the look or don’t have time to make your own, be sure to visit All Students Can Shine for the information. Then, all you’ll need is some construction paper, scissors, and glue…
Along with the adorable crafts, Valerie invites her kiddos to think about what it takes to be a team player – i.e. characteristics, what their actions look like, etc. After brainstorming, she has them complete writing prompts about how they can be a team player in the classroom environment. These are then attached to the Olympian crafts and displayed on a bulletin board as a reminder!
